South Bend Civic Theatre holds auditions adaptation of South Bend-set ‘more desirable buildings’
SOUTH BEND — South Bend Civic Theatre will grasp auditions for "more advantageous homes: The Play" from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 22 and 23 at 403 N. leading St.
Written by way of Caleen Jennings and in line with Gabrielle Robinson's "stronger buildings of South Bend: An American Story of braveness," "more advantageous buildings" tells the story of a bunch of African American employees on the Studebaker manufacturing facility who met secretly in 1950 to form a plan to construct buildings away from the factories and the slums where they were forced to live.
This real story explores the remarkable Migration, redlining and the function systemic racial injustice has played in the development of South Bend's Black group.
Onstage: South Bend Civic Theatre gifts Austen, Shakespeare in 'Classics in the Courtyard'
crucial are one Black girl, ages 18-20s; two Black women, forty or older; one Black man, 18-20s; one Black man, forty or older; one white girl, 20-40; and one white man, forty or older.
Rehearsals start Aug. 28 and take vicinity from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays through Nov. 5.
Performances are Nov. 10-19.
